China Europe Building Technology Exchange and Cooperation Association and the NOVA University Lisbon signed an agreement for a new Master’s Sino-Portuguese program in Civil Engineering

China Europe Building Technology Exchange and Cooperation Association(hereinafter referred as CEBTECA) and the Faculty of Science and Technology of the NOVA University Lisbon signed a cooperation agreement for the Sino-Portuguese Civil Engineering Master’s program in English on the April 27th.
The project is a pioneer between the parties, prepared by the Association, together with dozens of Chinese universities, aims to send 20 and 30 Chinese graduated students in Civil Engineering per academic year, to enter the two-year master’s program at NOVA University Lisbon.
During the contract signing ceremony, Professor Virgílio Machado, Director of NOVA’s School of Science and Technology stated: “Today is an important day for our university and for everyone involved in the development of this partnership. I want to thank the Chinese university’s professors, CEBTECA, and our professors, especially our colleagues in the civil engineering department for the effort they have put into the success of this partnership”, and he stressed that he was sure that this partnership would cultivate many talents, and achieve great results.
According to the project, exchanges will be carried out in a strategic and in-depth way between students and professors, and between Chinese and Portuguese universities, and its main objectives at this first moment are to cultivate innovative and comprehensive civil engineering talents with an international vision, quality professional and understanding of Chinese and Western construction technology and management.
However, as far as President of CEBTECA Prof. Ganlin Ouyang was concerned, the partnership would not stop here: “the Master’s program in English in civil engineering is just a beginning, we are also open to receiving students from NOVA University Lisbon for our postgraduate programs in China. At the same time, we will work so that our cooperation is not limited to civil engineering, and should be progressively extended to other courses at NOVA University Lisbon.”
The President Ganlin Ouyang also said that he believed that, through this cooperation and dissemination, in the future, more Chinese students could choose to study in Portugal.
